BENEFITS OF CREATING ONLINE COURSES OR GROUP COACHING PROGRAMS Massage therapists are natural coaches and it's normal to experience times in your career when you look at ways you can deepen our skills and provide better quality services. You may even wonder what you can do next to keep engaged and motivated in this career? Creating an online course of group coaching program helps you broaden your reach beyond the walls of your massage practice and challenges you to serve your clients in new ways that don't require your hands-on techniques. This is one way you can feel reengaged in the profession and not feel like you need to completely start over in a new career. Creating an online offer can also help to supplement your income, give you a buffer, or save for retirement. WHAT CAN MASSAGE THERAPISTS TEACH ONLINE? Between your education in massage therapy and spending even a short amount of time in practice you have invaluable assets to teach others. Think of a specific group of clients you see on a regular basis and offer a program tailored to their needs (stretch, strength, habit tracking etc.). Did you ace your massage exams? Mentor massage students to ace their exams too! Maybe you love to paint and you can teach a painting course online. It doesn't always have to relate to massage therapy- in fact, sometimes it's better if it doesn't. Check out the FREE PDF below from Elle Browning to identify your signature course. SIGNS YOU ARE READY TO BUILD AN ONLINE BUSINESS 1. You feel bored. It's not a bad thing when you are feeling ready for a change. Your expertise can be shared in other ways that help you continue to learn and grow beyond your physical practice. Feeling bored as a massage therapist doesn't mean you need start over in a new career either and it's worth exploring how you can use the skills you already have to bring some spark back to your career. Also, it's ok if you have passions outside of massage. Being creative in other areas can actually help you stay motivated in your massage practice. 2. You keep getting the same questions or you are treating the same issues constantly. It's natural that certain groups will gravitate to us. Maybe you have undergone knee surgery yourself and this makes you perfect for someone who is rehabilitating after knee surgery. Maybe you love essential oils and you use them frequently in your practice. Do your clients inquire about the benefits of certain oils and how they can incorporate them in their home life? Maybe you know all the best restaurants in town and you naturally recommend them to your clients and it helps them to plan dream dates or memorable events? COMMON CHALLENGES WHEN YOU WANT TO BRING YOUR SKILLS ONLINE Taking on a new business idea will present it's own set of challenges but think of the risks you have taken so far in your career and how you rose to meet them! Mindset is a common challenge as you shift from a comfortable place of feeling like an expert in your practice to learning a new set of skills to share online. Introvert is a common trait among massage therapists and when we consider moving our business from one-on-one to teaching even a small group online or possibly sharing our course with thousands, the exposure and visibility can feel vulnerable. I'm a girl who was told by my grandma that I have magic hands and so I became a massage therapist. I love reading in bed, the combo of peanut butter and chocolate anything, and working from my laptop or phone with my dogs by my side. My mission? To help other massage therapists own their awesome and do what they love every darn day! Even if that love is not massage therapy.
