Today I’m joined by Victoria Munro, RMT + IBCLC, who has built a unique practice working with prenatal, postpartum, and infant care blending massage therapy with lactation support.
We talk about:
  • Why massage therapists should be part of the breastfeeding conversation
  • The concept of the postpartum dyad (mom + baby as one unit)
  • How infant oral function impacts feeding, tension, and long-term health
  • Why treating babies can actually make you a better therapist for adults
  • The truth about prenatal massage (and why we’ve been overcomplicating it)
  • How niching down can give you more freedom, flexibility, and fulfillment
This episode is a reminder that your scope is bigger than you think… and your career can evolve in ways you probably haven’t considered yet.

TAKEAWAYS
  1. Your scope is bigger than you think
There are entire areas (infant care, oral function, breastfeeding support) that massage therapists can safely support—but most never explore.
  2. Stop being afraid of prenatal massage
Pregnant clients are not fragile. With proper positioning and confidence, you can create incredible results.
  3. Look beyond the symptom
Neck tension, headaches, and jaw pain may be connected to airway and oral function—not only posture or stress.
  4. Niching down creates freedom
A focused practice can lead to better referrals, a full schedule, and more control over your time.
  5. Follow your curiosity
The most fulfilling careers are built by going deeper into what interests you—not by staying general.

Victoria Munro is a Registered Massage Therapist and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant based in Guelph, Ontario. Since 2018, she has supported prenatal and postpartum families, blending hands-on bodywork with evidence based lactation care.
Her work focuses on the connection between infant oral function, tongue ties, and whole-body tension, inspired both by advanced breastfeeding mechanics training and her own experience navigating feeding challenges with her first son.
Victoria is passionate about reminding families and providers that babies are half of the breastfeeding team, and that gentle, developmentally informed manual therapy can play a powerful role in feeding, comfort, and long term function.
