In this engaging conversation, Krista sits down with Amy Bradley Radford—massage business coach, educator, and host of Massage. Business. Success.—to talk about the power of defining client expectations and building a business that truly fits your life.
Together, they unpack what it means to move from massage artist to CEO, exploring how clear communication, structured systems, and realistic goals create stronger client relationships and more consistent rebooking. Amy shares her six-question framework for uncovering client needs and aligning every session with clear, measurable outcomes—helping therapists move from “hoping clients rebook” to confidently guiding the process.
The conversation also dives into the art of pressure, how to navigate client pain levels, and the subtle differences between what clients say they want and what they really mean. Amy and Krista discuss the evolving massage industry, the need for mentorship, and why therapists should start treating their schedule like a business strategy—not an accident.
If you’re a massage therapist ready to fill your schedule, improve client retention, and reclaim your freedom, this episode is your roadmap to building a sustainable, profitable, and joy-filled practice.

TAKEAWAYS
  • Set expectations early. Tell clients what results are realistic and what great care looks like in your practice.
  • Reverse-engineer your ideal week. Start with life needs, then place treatment blocks, then add admin and recovery time.
  • Track expectation wins. After each session, jot: “What did they expect? What did I deliver? What’s next?”
  • Think like a CEO. Make choices that protect your time, energy, and income—your schedule should support your life.
ABOUT
From Burnout to Balance—And Helping Therapists Get There, Too
I didn’t plan on becoming a teacher. Or a coach. Or a guide for hundreds of massage therapists trying to build a career that doesn’t run them into the ground.
I just wanted to help people heal—and find a way to make it work without giving up my own health in the process.
But after 30+ years in the field, here’s what I’ve learned:
Healing work is sacred—but without a foundation, it’s not sustainable.
I’ve been the overworked therapist, juggling sessions, parenting, and just trying to make ends meet. I’ve also been the confident practitioner with a full practice, steady income, and deep satisfaction in my work. That didn’t happen by accident—it happened because I figured out how to build systems, set boundaries, understand pain patterns deeply, and run a business like a pro… while still leading with heart.

My Path in a Nutshell:
  • 30+ years as a licensed massage therapist
  • Start up consultant for 3 separate massage schools
  • National educator and speaker on business and pain management
  • Creator of advanced training and mentorship programs
  • Developer of innovative approaches to scar tissue behavior and chronic pain
  • Business coach to hundreds of massage therapists nationwide
  • Advocate for turning healing work into sustainable careers
