In this episode I chat with fellow RMT and clinic owner Lisa de Souza to discuss the ins and outs of coming across as a professional candidate for massage therapy positions. We dive into the importance of making a strong first impression and explore the fine line between transparency and oversharing during interviews. Lisa shares her insights on the value of researching clinics before applying and emphasizes the significance of enthusiasm, professionalism, and effective communication throughout the interview process. The conversation also covers the benefits of hands-on interviews, the necessity of flexibility with scheduling, and why asking insightful questions is key to a successful interview process. This episode offers valuable tips for massage therapists looking to make a lasting impression and find the right fit for their massage practice whether they are new to the profession or looking for a change.

TAKEAWAYS
  • Make a Strong First Impression – Whether it's in person or over the phone, your first impression matters. Being punctual, professional in appearance, and engaging in the conversation can set the tone for a successful interview and highlight your commitment to the role.
  • Transparency vs. Oversharing – While it's important to be transparent during an interview, there’s a fine line between sharing valuable information and oversharing personal details. Focus on professionalism while being honest about your career goals and previous experiences.
  • Research the Clinic Before Applying – Taking the time to research the clinic and understand its offerings, values, and work culture can help you determine if it’s the right fit for you. It also shows the clinic owner that you are invested in the opportunity.
  • Hands-On Interviews Offer Valuable Insights – Hands-on interviews can give both the clinic owner and the candidate a better sense of their treatment style and overall fit for the clinic. It’s a great way to assess skills and determine if there’s a potential for mutual growth.
  • Positive Attitude and Willingness to Learn Are Key A positive attitude, enthusiasm for the work, and a willingness to continue learning are essential for long-term success in the massage therapy field. Employers value candidates who are driven, flexible, and open to personal and professional growth.
